behind the boards.

Ashley and Kelly have known each other for years. And (we assume) like most relationships, became friends while hunkered in the back of an Elks kitchen bonding over the different ways to slice Manchego. After collaborating on a few projects, it became clear that they both loved beautiful spreads, salami rivers, and sharp knives. Thus the idea of a new business venture blossomed into the Velvet Vine Charcuterie.

Together, Kelly and Ashley complement each other's charcuterie talents and genuinely enjoy spending time together in a kitchen creating beautiful things for people to enjoy on their date nights, special occasions, and holidays. You will typically hear them in the kitchen before seeing them as they snort-laugh at every corny joke possible, rap to 90's old-school hip-hop, and daydream of seeing Barry Manilow LIVE in Vegas.

Ashley's appreciation for the finer things in life, such as artisan cheese and Trader Joe's, blossomed during her time as a nanny on the East Coast. It was at dinner parties with friends that she first encountered the delight of unwrapping stinky cheeses and savoring bite-sized meats that defied the typical summer sausage fare. To her surprise, these gatherings showcased a unique approach to finger sandwiches – no mayo involved.

Spending five years in Philadelphia, Ashley developed a deep passion for exquisite food. Her culinary creations now reflect a fusion of East Coast and Midwest influences. For instance, she pairs her Mom’s homemade rhubarb jelly with triple cream Brie sourced from the Italian Markets of Philadelphia.

Central to Ashley's life is her greatest joy, her daughter Lacy, who serves as the driving force behind all her endeavors. An enthusiastic thrifter and beach book lover, Ashley is always on the lookout for the perfect margarita wherever her travels take her.

A proud graduate of the University of North Dakota (GO SIOUX!), Ashley co-owns an event company called the House of Style Event Planning + Design, based in Williston. Her contributions to the community have not gone unnoticed – she is a recent 20 Under 40 awardee, a nominee for the Community Engagement award from the Williston Chamber of Commerce, and an active participant on multiple community boards. In her business pursuits, Ashley takes pride in aligning with other strong, locally-owned enterprises, particularly those led by empowering women. Together, they share common goals of giving back to the community that has enriched their lives.
